IN THE LAST ISSUE of Bleat we introduced you to the London member of the igloo family, Bermondsey Square; this time we’re off to Cardiff and one of the newest additions to the clan, Porth Teigr.
The last piece in the jigsaw that is the Cardiff Bay Inner Harbour development, we, igloo have kick started the development of Porth Teigr with a first phase development for BBC Cymru Wales – a purpose built drama village and production studios which will see Casualty, Pobol Y Cwm, Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures all filmed in facility. This element of Porth Teigr is due for completion in the summer, with Casualty set for filming in September this year and Doctor Who in March 2012.
Porth Teigr, extending to 38 acres on the south side of the Bay was named to reflect the historic use of the site as an important international port and conjure the spirit of the Cardiff’s Tiger Bay.
Elsewhere on the site, we’re working with the Welsh Assembly Government to create a new Digital Media Centre which will provide opportunities for small, high growth businesses and freelancers and provide affordable infrastructure to stimulate and support a cluster of small, high value creative businesses – similar to what we have here in Leeds.
